Day 1    
  Employee Issues (Do Contented Cows Really Give More Milk?)

  9:00am – 5:00pm This 8 hour course outlines the premise behind Contented Cows Give Better Milk by Bill Catlette and Richard Hadden (2001). The book explores how to create an environment where people are most productive, to enhance the profitability of business. Employee turnover is very costly. The book explores how to have contented workers.  
     
Day 2    
  Regulations, Laws and Statutes – Oh My! (from the Wizards of compliance)

  9:00am – 1:00pm This 4 hour course provides an overview of current CCL regulations with an emphasis on regulations promulgated since 2004 to keep administrators up to date. Labor and fire safety issues will also be addressed.  
  Risk Management (A Walk-Through a Day Keeps the Lawyers Away)

  1:00am – 5:00pm This is a 4 hour program that assists administrators to reduce risks in their facilities through thorough training of all employees, appropriate levels of insurance coverage, regulatory compliance, and documentation, documentation, documentation.  
       
Day 3    
  Dementia: A Person-Centered Approach (Do I Remember Why I’m Here?) *

This is an 8 hour course applicable to administrators about dementia which covers new research and treatment, and ways to bring the material to staff people for implementation. The focus is on a person-centered approach to dementia care.

Day 4    
  HIV, AIDS and TB Update 2007 (Communicable Disease Connection)

This 4 hour course covers the information required for the every 2 year update required for ARF administrators as well as exploring the issue of communicable disease in residential facilities. The AIDS portion looks at 25 years of AIDS. Current issues in TB and Hepatitis will be explored.  
  Expanding your Activities Programs

  1:00am – 5:00pm This 4 hour course will review regulatory requirements and provide tools for providers to expand their activities program options.  
       
Day 5    
  Dealing with Difficult Situations (Take my fill in the blank, please)

  9:00am – 5:00pm This 8 hour course looks at how people get labeled as difficult, different types of difficult people, determining whether the situation or the person is the difficulty. Participants will leave with tools for a variety of situations. The class considers all aspects of difficulty – employees, co-workers, family members and residents.
